Wrapped in an ugly zip lock bag,i was used as a gun for robbery and now i am as evidence against the robber that used me for his evil doings.Actually i was very innocent as i was a gun that policemen used to catch robbers but now i am a being used by robbers to do evil..

Two days ago,i was a trustworthy friend of my policeman partner,Sam.Sam was a very good person and the best policeman i have ever partnered with.In a shootout between policemen and robbers,Sam was shot in the head and died on the spot while the robber that shot him took me and ran away very quickly.In the pocket of the robber i overheard that they are planning a robbery in a jewellery shop in town.I was shocked and to think that i was a policeman best friend and now i am going to be used for robbery.

Two days later,i was very scared of the operation that the robbers are going to do.how i wish that i could shout to anyone for help but i couldn’t.When the robbers got into the jewellery shop,there was no one in the shop.The robbers and myself were very mystified.Suddenly policemen popped out from all directions and point their guns at us.i do not know what has happen and how does the policemen find out of their operation but i was very happy that the robbers were caught but i myself was also drag into this mess…

I was staring the ceiling of my house doing nothing and still trying to get over the fact that i have been retrenched.I am a bachelor in the early 40s and i once own a post as manager in a supermarket.Thing were working out for me a few years ago…

I got my briefcase and i was off to work.I was in the early 30s when i started as a manager.my job was to take care of the fruits and vegetables section in the supermarket.Everyday the old aunties that came shopping for fruits and vegetables would say hello when they pass by me.since i started work i made friends with many customers as i was friendly and very helpful towards them.the staff under my supervision were all very happy as i do not scold or reprimand my subordinates ever.

i always got the best employee award every month because of my attitude towards my work and to the customers.As i continued to do my best in my work,my boss wanted to promote me but i reject his offer as i wanted to stay in my present job.

Two years has passed and my other manager friends told me that the boss is retiring and passing his place to his son who has just come back from America.To be honest the new boss is a serious person and every small mistakes could cause you to be fired hence everyone was extra careful when we see the boss.Life everyday was still normal and so far no one got fired.

When the news of the global crisis reached our country,everyone feared of being retrenched and i do not think that i would be so unlucky to be the lucky few that were being retrench in our supermarket.Apparently,a few storage workers,myself and two other managers were fired.When i received the letter to inform me that the company is going to fire a few staff and myself but each of us is going to receive a total of $80,000 when we leave this company.i was sad as i could not bear to leave the supermarket.

I stayed at home for a few days still think of what i am going to do now and i suddenly though of trying to apply for a job and so i submitted my interview form to several companies but i was rejected by all companies because of my age.so i lie on my bed and many thing just zoom pass my head and i end up staring at the ceiliing still unable to get over the fact that i have been retrenched…

As i open the heavy door of my late grandmother’s room,a sudden gust of cold air blew pass my skin.Everything inside was pitch dark and i could not see anything beyond two feet.I quickly switch on my yellow torch and the bright beam shone all the way to the last inch of the room.As i slowly step into the room,the floor gave a creaking sound with every step i made and the room has nothing except a small mattress with several holes punched through it.thin,silky cobwebs were hanging at all corners of the room and it made the room look even more creepier than before.

Droplets of sweat rolled down the side of their cheeks as the girls waited impatiently for their results.Everyone are in the hall walking back and forth anxiously and praying hard that they would pass their exams as they waited for the principal to arrive.the girls held themselves tightly together and their palms are as cold as ice.When the principal walked into the hall,the girls quickly returned to their respective seats and sat down.The hall suddenly fell into silence.Only the sound of the blades of the fans could be heard,other than that everything was dead silence.

Nowadays,both parents are working and leaving their children at home alone or in child-care centres.However there are pros and cons for having two working parents.The pros are that the family would have a more stable income and family can live a better quality of life.The cons are that there is now lesser time for the parents to communicate with the children and the children tend to be very lonely most of the time.

Firstly,the family would have a better income.This allow the children to be able to concentrate better in their studies as they do not have to worry about not enough money to spend.Through a recent family survey,the results shows that out of ten families, seven would have both parents working and out this seven families,four families are earning more than nine thousand dollars a month.

Secondly,families can life a better quality of life.With so many families that are earning high incomes,many children can spend money without having to worry too much on  the price as their parents are able to afford.I have a friend whose family’s monthly income is only about three thousand dollars which is very little to the family of five,hence whatever the family needs to buy, they would have to consider about the price first before buying anything.

About the cons of having two working parents,firstly,there is lesser time for parents to communicate to the children.With two working parents there is hardly anytime for interaction in the family,the most is that the family will get together during the weekends or public holidays.A survey done by our school shows that seventy-five percent of the school population are usually at home alone.

Secondly,the children tend to be very lonely most of the time.As their parents are usually working during the weekdays and sometimes during the weekends and so many children can only play games at home and not really going out to play as there is no one to accompany them.A report given by the school councillor shows that children are the most active in sports between the age of three to seven as such children between between this age are not advise to stay at home as it might affect children growth.

In conclusion, having both parents working allows the family to have a more stable income and better quality of life but communication between the parents and children is very crucial to create a good family at the same time caring for the children so that they would not feel lonely at home.
